Not that it matters much, but there aren’t many Florida believers in the SEC media.
A year after the Gators went 11-2 and narrowly missed winning the SEC Eastern Division, the reporters at SEC Media days picked them to finish third in the division this season.
Georgia, which won the East each of the past two years, got 149 of the 243 first-place votes (61%). The media picked rest of the division this way: 2. South Carolina (75), Florida (19), Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Missouri, Kentucky.
In the Western Division, Alabama got 225 of the first-place votes (93%). The Crimson Tide also got 182 votes to win the conference (75%), followed by Georgia and South Carolina. The rest of the West went like this: 2. Texas A&M (11), 3. LSU (7), 4. Ole Miss, 5. Auburn, 6. Mississippi State, 7. Arkansas.
